New Beginnings at PRBC

New beginnings are ahead for our church. This past Sunday evening (September 28th), we voted at a special business meeting to add new staff members to our church. We will be hiring a Director of Discipleship, Director of Assimilation and a Nursery/Pre-K Coordinator in the coming months. These positions will have a huge impact on some very important areas of our church. Let me elaborate.

First, as we establish a system of discipleship for church, we need to have someone giving focused attention to this process. Having a system of discipleship will give each person in our church and new people in our church a calculated opportunity for growth in moving them toward Christian maturity. The director of Discipleship will help to coordinate this discipleship system, train volunteers and teach in new classes as part of this system. I am excited to have someone spend focused time in this area of ministry.

Second, the director of Assimilation will help to create opportunities for new people in our church to get connected into the main life of the church and into a process of discipleship that will help them to grow in maturity. We have a constant stream of visitors in our church each Sunday. It is great having visitors come to our church, but we must do more than just make them feel welcome. We need a system of follow-up for first-time and second-time visitors. A system will help us to keep focused attention on the visitors that God sends our way and I believe will help us to retain more visitors than we are currently able to. This will make an impact on the number of people who make a return visit and will help in retaining them in the future.

So, we have new beginnings… something to offer in the way of spiritual growth and we have a way to bring people into the mainstream of the church. I am excited to see these areas begin to function and further the mission of Jesus Christ through Pea Ridge Baptist.

One final thought…the addition of these staff members, including the Nursery/Pre-K Coordinator does not mean that you are not needed. These individuals will give leadership to the development of systems to enhance our ministry in this community, but the body of Christ is still in need of you and your gifts. These new areas of focused ministry will require your participation in new and exciting ways in our church.

I trust that we will labor together to help advance the kingdom of God in our community. Our mission has not changed…we are called “to know Christ and make Him known”. That will not change…the need for your participation will not change…God will continue to be glorified through your life and the lives of many people who will come to our congregation. It is my prayer that will keep our eyes on Jesus Christ, keeping a spirit of unity as we seek to use our gifts to glorify the name of our Lord.

Thanks for your support and continued steps of faith. Let’s keep moving forward in the Lord!
