Share God Personally
For the past four months I have written about our vision statement…In LOVE we will KNOW Christ Completely…GROW in Maturity…SERVE Wholeheartedly…SHARE God Personally. It is our desire as a church to keep this as a primary focus in all we do. Our calling as a church and personally as a Christian is to be disciple makers. Jesus’ commission to us is found in each of the synoptic gospels (see Matthew 28: 18-20; Mark 16: 15; Luke 24: 45-49) and in the book of Acts…”But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (1: 8).
The importance of telling others about our faith in Jesus Christ has been part of the Christ followers since the resurrection of Jesus Christ. There is a story recorded in the book of Acts about Peter and John and their witness for Christ. They are been preaching and were a nuances to the religious leaders of the day. They were told to not preach anymore about Jesus…and this is what they said…” we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heart” (Acts 4:20, NIV). They were so full of the presence of Christ in them…full of the knowledge that Jesus was alive…so full of his love for them, that they would not stop telling others about what they have experienced. Have you experienced…I mean truly experienced the power of God’s forgiveness, His love and faithfulness in your life? If so, you should not be able to keep silent!
There are some 4 billion unchurched people in the world who need to know of the love of Jesus Christ. They need to open their hearts to his forgiveness and acceptance. We know that “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10: 13, NIV). People who experience the love of Jesus Christ and respond to him will be saved…that is a fact. But, they need to hear from someone and that someone might be you! And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:14-15, NIV). Your life as a witness for Jesus Christ is a beautiful offering. Others will be blessed as they hear a personally encounter you have had with God.
That’s what it means to SHARE God Personally. It’s very simple, yet at times we can make it so complicated. Look at your life. How have you been blessed? What changes have come to your life as you experience God’s presence in you? How is your life different as a result of KNOWing Christ Completely? Just share your heart so that someone else might share in the great inheritance of Christ. The Bible says “For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory” (Colossians 3:3-4, NLT).
Let someone enter into the glory of a relationship with Jesus Christ because of you. Tell your story, share your experience, live in God’s love and you will make a different in the world around you.
