Praise in the present
I’ve mostly lived my life looking forward. That has been an intentional effort on my part; my personality actually trends more towards reflecting on the past. Somehow, I’ve trained myself to look forward. But there are problems with that approach to life. When you are constantly looking forward:
· You often miss the present
· You don’t take time to celebrate what God has done
· You are rarely content
· You take people for granted
Thankfully, the grace of God and my natural tendencies have prevented me from falling into these traps frequently, though I do still battle them. At this moment, I am choosing to focus on what’s happening around me in our church family.
We recently hosted a spiritual growth retreat that brought many of you together for a day of drawing nearer to God. Feedback from adults and kids who attended has been so positive that we already have another one on the calendar for Saturday, May 1, 2027! This retreat was planned and put together by our own vision team, which has worked hard over the last two years to discern God’s direction for our church.
In March and April, we baptized four people (and I got to baptize one additional person at another location). We are seeing new people come on Sundays and get connected thanks to the welcoming atmosphere that many of you who are current members are helping to create. Our worship team has led us with Spirit-filled music on Sunday mornings and members of that team are serving with humility and unity.
Children, teens and adults are experiencing God and connecting with each other through a variety of ministries within our church. Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, life groups, women’s Bible study, men’s breakfast … these are providing meaningful and fun times of growth in relationship to God and one another.
In short, it’s an exciting time in the life of our church! If you are already getting connected, keep moving in that direction. If you haven’t yet taken that step, now is the time! Reach out to us by sending a text to 833-776-5099 with the word “connect” and we will respond to help you.
As we move into summer, we are starting something new: Family Nights on Sunday night! This is part of a move we are making from Wednesday night to Sunday night ministries, which we believe best fits with our church family. We had our final Wednesday night last night as we celebrated with a cookout, and our first Sunday night will be June 7 as we launch with our summer church picnic (we like cookouts).
I’m thankful for what God is doing in our church right now, and where He is leading us. This is a time to praise Him for who He is and how He is working in each of our lives, and to invite others to experience Him, too.
