Entering God's Rest

The wilderness is not the end of the story. After nine weeks exploring this biblical theme, one truth keeps rising to the surface: even in the hardest seasons, God's rest is still available to us today.

The author of Hebrews points to Israel's wilderness wandering as a warning and an invitation. Those who hardened their hearts missed the promised rest. But the promise remains open. As Hebrews 4:7 reminds us, God specifies a certain day -- today -- to hear His voice and keep your heart soft.

Jesus, our new Joshua, leads us into a rest that began at creation and will be fulfilled in the new creation. Total trust in God drives out fear and opens us to His ways of justice and love.
