Launched to reach a community
In 1956, God called a group of believers to start a new church in the residential area of Pea Ridge in Huntington, W.Va. Industry was booming in Huntington and the Pea Ridge area was expanding rapidly as families purchased and built homes here. This new church was connected to the West Virginia Baptist Convention, which had determined the need for a new local church to reach this growing community. These believers began meeting each week in a local elementary school and established themselves as Pea Ridge Baptist Church. After two years, the church moved into a new building nearby, where the church still meets today. Decades have passed, and our church continues to move forward, sharing and showing the love of Jesus to the people of our community.
Making disciples
Today our church has a singular focus of carrying out the mission Jesus has given us: the mission of making disciples. We understand this happens through relationships, and our church strives to create environments that allow these relationships to form and grow. Our staff, volunteer teams, age-specific ministries for kids and teens, small groups, outreach efforts ... these are all avenues for the personal discipleship that takes place when followers of Jesus share life together.
Following Jesus together
We meet to worship God together, to pray together, to read and apply the Bible together, to serve together, to reach out together, to laugh together, to live together, to grow together, to follow Jesus together. And we invite you in to become part of what God is doing in our midst. We're a church family that is actively seeking new family members ... reaching out to those who don't yet know Jesus, and those who do but are still searching for a church home.
Be a part of our story...
