Church and Academy Update May 2022

Pea Ridge Baptist Preschool was launched in 1993 with the mission of offering Christ-centered childcare to families in our community. What started as a small church-based preschool has now grown into the Ridge Kids Academy, which offers care and Bible teaching for children from infants to 12 years old through its preschool, after school and summer care ministries.

The increased need for childcare in our area led Academy leaders to seek expansion to meet that need, and God has provided. The Academy plans to move into its new space in the Keaton’s Business Center building located at 6330 Route 60 East in Barboursville over the summer. Originally it was hoped the move would be completed by early June. However, some construction delays have moved that date to early July, though part of the new building should be usable soon. For now, the Academy plans to care for infants through 3-year-olds in their new building during the month of June, while caring for 4-12 year-olds in our church building during that time.

Through this expansion process, it became apparent that the Academy needed to become independent from our church to allow them to function as a regional childcare ministry. While the Academy is now officially separate from our church, we continue to support and encourage the leaders and staff as they complete the mission God has given them. We ask you to pray for them often and look for ways to bless them.

Change is never easy, but this move seems to be very positive for both the school and our church. The school is now able to care for more children and our church will soon have more flexibility in using and renovating our own building. In Christ,
Dan Londeree, Pastor
